Life's Artwork
Now I know what DaVinci saw as he painted her portrait
The lifetime of happiness and pain all hidden behind a worldly smile
Loves lost and found, friends both near and past
Small joys shared and reflected upon
Wonders of nature looked upon and remembered with passion
These are but some of the things I see reflected in your loving smile
I lay awake late into the night thinking of ways to bring a smile to your lips
My heart is quickened by every flicker of mirth and compassion found there
Yes I go out of my way to devise more reasons to keep a smile going strong
Oh to see that wonderful rise in the fullness of your lips
No longer pursed in thought or upon a moment of sad determination
Taking on all matters grave and grinding them to a standstill in a smile
Your smile is a fantasy realized and a reality dreamed of
So smile for the camera and sit for my sketches made of your glowing smile
I will spend my life helping place smiles upon your interesting lips
Whether I have to play the fool with foul puns or worse jokes
Or simple yet thoughtful things to brighten your day, count them done
Yes DaVinci had Mona Lisa to work with and it was good
But I have you a living, laughing and loving soul and that is a finer art
Your smile lights my night's path and brightens my days to shadow free glory
Bringing smiles to faces especially yours is a life's task towards which I
strive
