Tendered

My heart aches in tandem with yours dear
Unable to fix the hurt that has befallen your soul
Can't work a miracle cure of any true kind
Only help staunch the bleeding cuts, easing loss
But the damage is done by another not here
I can't bring them back, force a reunion anew
What I will, must do is be here for you always
Shoulder ready, arms open and ready to listen
Sharing your aches as memories of past hurts
As yours are fresh, while mine dulled with time
But I can hold you in my arms, radiating caring
Know that nothing can keep me from your side
Even if you try to push me away due to your pain
I will give you distance ever ready to return anew
For you are my friend, love and much more forever
I am no mere fickle leaf in the heart's harsh winds
More the well rooted Oak for support and shelter
You may lash out in anger or pain, I will not flinch
Know that I would not leave you to hurting alone
Temporary Madness is part of healing and redemption
Only by taking these hurts out of the boxes we seal
Let the sunny beach fade the ferocious colors of pain
Allow the crisp moonlit night to air out the stench
Or the moist rain splatter upon it, cooling it's fiery fury
It won't be today or even a near tomorrow that hurt dims
But one day we'll find that the pain is still here, unmoving
Only muted, faded and distant enough to almost bear
Till that time and past you have my strength and Love
