Care

I follow footsteps long tread
Past paths ever forward led

Love's labors never really lost
Many unable to pay final cost

Gathering courage needed to go
That final mile just on your say so

A river bed of intent flowing forward
Past the rocks and weeds of yard

A carefully tended garden yielding
Produce for the heart of the living

Worn Paths within cultivated soils
Long walks among this Love's toils

Seeded soils puts forth loving roots
Anchoring steady for Love's shoots

Weeding, aerating and watering till numb
Some would even call it a green thumb

I'll not ever let this garden go to seed
Because with you, this growth I need

Future's Past

We are ever passing that our own future
Present and Past of which we are sure

A Masked Ball to an unrecognizable tune
Damned to a dizzying pace, not stopping soon

Making decisions with our hearts and mind
Stubborn in resolve despite what we may find

You ask me what this tomorrow may bring
As long as you part of it, I'll take anything

The only surety I have in this short life
Is that you are which relieves my strife

I can't command or even predict your heart
Nor would I as free will is your form of Art

I only know I will love you and be your friend
Like in Shakespeare they all die in the end

But I know that even as our bones are now but dust
Words and deeds we made will survive, never rust

The world may not recall our personal passing
But the words and feelings will stand everlasting

Have nothing much to really say
Welcome to singles awareness day

This corrupted Idea of a Lover's Day
Pressing one to force more than may

Ad agencies, jewelers and retailers conspire
False pressure to put a date to our desire

So on this day I refrain from expressing more
Than I would on any other day, my Love for

Yet tomorrow My efforts will be redoubled
Letting my love be gently, often reminded

That our Love revolves not around a single date
An anchor holding us back and making us wait

My heart beats not upon a mark on a calendar
But for her who I care beyond the life of a star

The Light from our Love will shine beyond time
And to limit it to any one date would be a crime

So if you care to wait till the day's folly passed
We'll again share Love that is destined to last

Love's Orbit

Here for a good time
Not for a long time

We give of ourselves much
In matters Love and such

Take the time to tell the one
You love them, they are the sun

The light that lightens your heart
The warmth of Love never to part

Orbit this bright love always
Never stop exploring new ways

Things to make her smile most wide
Simple acts to bring her to your side

You don't postpone acts of Love
Go ahead push, squeeze and shove

Pounce with every ounce of energy
Let her know it's her you see

As the only real and true treasure
The only one to share your future

Caution and distance be damned
Love doesn't punch a clock, planned

It's simply what you hold all above
Her heart, touch and all of her Love
