Time Enough


A fleeting thought or glance my way
Hopes dashed as the sea which swells and
Spreads its salty warmth ashore
Tickling my feet with feelings of ecstasy
Only to be gone without a word

Will there ever be time enough to spend with you?
And will I ever possess you completely?
Or will you know me even as you are known?
For too long it seems I've wondered.

But the heart understands not day nor hour nor any such thing.
For in my heart there is only you from before the world began.
In my heart, a flame with no beginning and without end.
Unquenchable.

Sure as the hope that within me lies
Sure as the sea will rise again
Sure as the flame that burns within my heart
With you there will be time enough
