ONLY LONELY?
I heard man say there's a "dark night of the soul"
And that it's strongest felt when we're alone.
Well, as for me I have but just one goal
That in the end I'll make silence my home.
When I start to wonder what it was I did to earn
these black, uncharted waters I must cross.
With all the rest I know that I must learn
to fight alone no matter what the cost.
But when I look within and listen to my heart
To find the courage needed along the road.
Only then do I begin to realize the art
of letting someone help me to bear the load.
I hear the cry of One who lies in wait
And seems to say "Oh child, you are Mine!"
Mere words that are the strength and help I need
And wrap me in a cloak of Love Divine.
Though by myself, alone I shall not be
Though all around the waves crash fierce and wild.
Somewhere inside this armor that you see
This valiant warrior also is a child.
