Forest Meditations

Within the world I am but a tree
Rooted within the Earth soaking in her energy
But when autumn comes I will sleep as I stand
And remain deeply rooted even as the snow covers the land
The winds will tear at my limbs
The passerby will pollute my foundation
But I'll shield my soul with my lover and friends
And then shiver in the rain of sanctification
Holy water will glisten from newly formed leaves
The knowledge of ages past and ages forward will be retrieved
I want to feel my third eye open
I want to witness the second Sun
I want tear and rip my third eye wide open
And see the light and the dark become one
In a constant state of understanding and peace
In excited revelation and spiritual release
Throwing the stone in the water may cause a ripple
The largest rivers were once but a trickle
I am but a sapling yearning to reach the sky
Not only wishing to live and to love, but to know why
And blinking softly I'll leave that place
And step slowly away from that sacred space
And see the light and darkness start to unbend
Until I close my eyes and sprout roots again
