Through trial and tribulation
We learn the lessons of life
They danced the streets in celebration
Poking fun at the new American strife

But that was a year ago this very day
Now they have something different to say
Now their own lives turned upside down
While we held our own parades in our towns

While they destroyed a few buildings
Made of glass and steel
They only aided our feelings
And patriotism became real

We took down their government
And sent their brave into the hills
They still have not reached repayment
For the hatred you showed brings us all closer together still

The dew still covered the grass
When the pavement was covered with glass
By the powers that be or would
The streets flowed with our blood

And through the air they tried to break us
And on the ground they tried to take us
But though the number we lost was few
All of blood runs red, white, and blue
