Raining

The sun drifts below the horizon line.
Brilliant oranges, purples, blues, and reds.
I close my eyes, as i smile to myself.
Only to open them as a tear falls.
Yet this is a tear of joy.

I feel a droplet of water on my nose.
I smile.
I realize it’s raining.
The heat of the summer day makes the air humid.
The rain comes down within two minutes.
I stand up from my sitting position.

I look around me at the terrain.
The grass is up to my knees.
I roll my head and my neck cracks several times.
I begin running.
When I finally reach the road I step out onto it.
I look to my sides, first to the right then the left.
No cars.
I take off running.
Down the road.
My clothes are soaked.
I stop at my drive way.
I glance at my left at my mailbox.
I dash up the drive way.
Into the yard.
I fall to the ground and lay there on my back and see the sky begin to darken.
I fall asleep there in the rain.
