Vampire’s Curse

------------------------
I see the sun emerge from beneath the clouds.
I sit on a flat stone to watch it.
The stone is cold and dark.
The first sun rays bead across the sky,
Like a stream of Christmas lights seen from a distance,
Stretching like elastic.
A mixture of pinks, blues, oranges, and purples.
The colors create a vive.
In the crooks of the trees.

As the sun shimmers off the small pond.
I still have time, but there’s no where to hide.
I close my eyes and let the vibrant colors wash over me until I am completely covered in the light,
Which only lasts a split second before a small pop and a small spark.
I have wings.
They’re black.
I’m soaring over the pond I was once gazing at.
I’m finally free.
But I’m tired.
I need sleep.
I’m blood thirsty.
I’m hungry.
Food or sleep.
But all my food is out at night.
In the darkness I hunt.
Never to be changed.
I’m finally free.
I’m no longer trapped.
I’m free.
