FAREWELL POEM
Without doubt our flame burned brightly, outshining all the rest,
Though the heat of our love's passion
Could not pass on time's true test
And as a star that streaks the sky in it's final blaze
We loved each other so intensely
for so few but wondrous days
And burning out, while branding in, such memories on my heart
I'll miss the moments that we shared
Long past the day we part
Your smile has etched it's image in my ever-present thought
And it shines e'en when I close my eyes,
Like the gold the pirates sought
I'll miss the way you kiss my lips, so soft, so sweet, divine
Like stealing grapes from orchards deep,
Fresh-ripened on the vine
The laughter loud, the hours, the tears, and all the things we've shared
Though our time was short, we lived it well,
We grew, we learned, we cared
I'll miss the way that we made love, our bodies intertwined
The melting of my flesh with yours...
One heart, one soul, one mind
There's need I go no further, 'less it be to add just this...
When you left, my heart went with you
And both of you I miss
