Encounter The Unknown

Open the self to the unknown
Cut the ground out from under
Under familiar reactions,
Of familiar habit patterns.

Notice repeated words and deeds;
repeated likes and dislikes dictate
while we while our time,
the same people spill our life
the same shoddy routine.

All of this familiarity
a shell from hell.

The unknown outside
a new shell.
Encounter it
willingly welcome it
with a humble heart.
