In the corner, cold and alone,
Your pleading eyes called to me
"Take me please, I need a home
I'll be gentle to your family"
Where you're from, I'll never know
Your name is but a mystery.
I had no chance to watch you grow
Now I only see your misery.
I can offer you shelter and food,
Get you out of your wire cage
Away from meals meager and crude
Where in comfort you can age
Now your life takes new direction
My home and heart you'll roam
I ask only your protection
And a wagging tail when I get home.
