CATALYST
Another night.
Just me,
and youthful courage,
pushing tired pedals
up the dark hill to home.
Then I heard it.
Frozen in my tracks,
fearful ears
scan for reassurance;
scan to identify
the unknown,
breaking branches in the woods.
With few options,
courage piggybacks fear
as adrenalin sets a record pace
to the street lit security,
too far off in the distance.
