THE CHOICE
The successful employ quick decision
So without second thought I dove right in
If I hadn't, where would I have been?
Lend me your ear, I'll begin
I would still carry the burden of debt
A house, a car I'd likely get
Perhaps an average life I'd bet
Yet many goals would not be met.
A debt of conscience would be my haunt
An average life would plague my wants
Want could have been would linger and taunt
Lack of courage, mine to flaunt
And, with what I know now
If again, I had the chance somehow
To re-spend the sweat upon my brow
To a better decision I would bow
Watch the hands upon the clock
Passing time, I'd choose not
For yesterday can't be bought
I'd employ slower thought
More time making the right decision
Quick response leads regretful living
The days are gone they've already been
But the path I've chosen is not the end
Down this road a time will come
A choice to make and I'll choose one
And remembering this path and things I've done
May the choice I make be the wisest one.
